Water Taps

There are six water points situated around the fields as shown on the above map.  It is mains water for drinking water only, please do not rinse chemical toilets directly from these taps. For hygiene reasons please collect all waste water and dispose of it in the waste disposal point.

Chemical Disposal Point

PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR DRAINS DO NOT COPE WITH ANY TOILET FLUID THAT CONTAINS FORMALDEHYDE THEREFORE PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU ONLY USE ORGANIC FLUIDS IN YOUR TOILET.  WE DO HAVE ORGANIC FLUID ON SITE FOR SALE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY  (£13 FOR TWO LITRES)

Facilities

Our showers and toilets (two of each) are well maintained and easy to access and our wifi is of good quality.  Each pitch has an 16 amp mains hookup and there are two large butler sinks with hot water if you would prefer to do your washing up there.

Hardstanding Pitches

We have some hardstanding pitches in case of wet weather.  We can inform you if there is one of these available when you book if required.

Waste Disposal

We operate recycling on site.  There is a bin for dry mixed recycling, another for general waste and another for glass.  Please note the signs on each bin which tells you what can be put inside them.

Dogs

Dogs are welcome providing they are well behaved and controlled and you clear up after them.  Please do not leave them in a hot vehicle or if they are going to bark and disturb others on site.  We do have resident labradoodle, Ralph,  who lives on site and can be loose sometimes.  He is friendly, doesn’t bite, jump up or bark and is also neutered but please be aware that he will come over and say hello sometimes.

Fires

We DO NOT allow bonfires or campfires on site.  Small barbeques are allowed but must be kept off the ground so that the grass does not get scorched.  Please make sure any ashes disposed of in the bins are completely cold prior to disposal.

Maxi-Gas – Hanging Gardens Nurseries Ltd, Ongar Road, Writtle, Chelmsford, CM1 3NT (01245 421020)

Electricity

Since the exponential increase in electricity charges unfortunately we are now having to charge for electricity separately to our pitch fees and we have reduced the pitch fees to allow for this.

Electricity is charged per kwh in addition to the pitch fees.  At July 2025 that price is 35p per kwh which is what we are charged, we make no profit on this figure.

We have an automated smart reading system for your electricity meter. This is a free and optional service that helps you track energy usage while on site. If you would like to access this to check your usage, please ensure that you are connected to our Wi-Fi first as it will not work otherwise.  Once connected, then copy 192.168.1.253 into any web browser. This will bring up a black screen login screen with a green "Loxone" Logo. If this is not the screen that comes up, you are likely not connected to our Guest Wi-Fi Network, please close the page and try again. Your user name on the interface is Post*. The password will be sent prior to your arrival.   This service will give you a running total of what you have used as well as an indication of your pitch fees for the duration of your stay. Please note that this metering system DOES NOT AFFECT THE POWER TO YOUR POST and you do not need to use it to activate your power. If you have a problem with it at all, please let us know. If your electricity bill is more than £1.50 then we ask that payment for electricity is paid by bank transfer to the following account.  If not, please add the amount of cash to your pitch fees.

Payment of Fees

We would appreciate all site fees to paid by cash if possible.  Our showers are coin operated and you will need a £1 coin (this will operate the shower for 5 minutes). If you have any problems please come to see us at the other end of the car park - there is a bell by the gate by the site office, please ring this and wait for a response before entering.   If we are not around fees can be left in the black letter box on the end of the shower block marked Shuck.   There are envelopes for this purpose above the sink.  We do not accept cheques but if you wish to pay by bank transfer please ask for our details.

Wet Weather

If the weather is wet prior to your arrival please call us if you have not booked a hardstanding pitch so that we can arrange a suitable location for you.   We would appreciate you not driving onto a waterlogged field and getting stuck which causes problems for both you and us!  We thank you for your consideration with this.

Arrival Time

Please arrive on site after 12 noon and leave before 12 noon to allow for other campers using the same pitch on your arrival and departure day.

Roads and local footpaths

Our site is on a road that has no pavements or street lighting and, as such, is quite dangerous to  walk on.  Although there is a footpath into Hylands Park about 200 metres along the road from us you have to walk around a very sharp bend in the road to get to it and we would not recommend that without extreme care if at all.

We live on site and work here most days excluding weekends.  We are usually in the site office at the other end of the main carpark during office hours.  Outside of these hours please ring the bell by the gate and wait for a response before entering.   Everything should be self-explanatory and clear but if you are not sure please call us on 01245 420112 and we will do our best to help you.
